Kindred Earth Collaboration Kindred Earth Collaboration began as a 6 month residency at Anna and Fredrick Douglass park in summer 2020. My intention through the residency was to reveal the ways that the earth and humanity are in collaboration to thrive in support of one another. Through deep listening meditations, stories, songs and ritual performance gatherings I created a loving and connective way for a small group of Lawndale residents to build relationship with the earth and uplift each other’s stories. We discussed how, though governmental forces may not want them to thrive, the earth itself does. Our collaboration with the earth is the gateway to healing and liberation.
This project is ongoing as I continue to deepen relationship with the residents of Lawndale and as I continue to study both the roadside herbs and the deep ecology of Chicago and the midwest.
